To use OBDCOM, you need:
1. A laptop or netbook computer with Windows XP, Windows Vista, or Windows 7. Windows 98* and 2000 will work too. Both 32 and 64 bit versions of Windows are supported. OBDCOM plugs into the USB port. Netbook users can download the software and drivers online, or copy the CD to another device. If you do not have access to a laptop, you can borrow one, or use a desktop computer that is within 10 feet of the car with an extension cable. MAC OS and Linux users: OBDCOM is a Windows application. Please see our FAQ (the Questions link on the left) for information.
2. Any vehicle that is model year 1996 through 2013. Click for list
ANY brand, ANY manufacturer, ANY model, except some diesel and commercial trucks.
OBDCOM can be used on UNLIMITED cars, as many as you want, and as often as you want.
3. We recommend that you get a service manual for any vehicle you plan to work on. There's also plenty of free information available online, but no repair work should be attempted without a proper service manual for the vehicle so you know the disassembly procedures and have access to troubleshooting flowcharts provided by the vehicle manufacturer.
